Reps set to Investigate 2024 Carnage in Okuama, Ughelli South Local Government Area, Delta State

 

The House of Representatives said it is committed to transparency and accountability in its pursuit of justice in respect of the carnage that occurred in Okuama, Ughelli South Local Government Area, Delta State on March 14, 2024.

This was made known in a statement jointly signed by Rep. Babajimi BensonC hairman, House Committee on Defence and his counterpart Rep. Akin Rotimi, Jr. House Spokesman/Chairman, House Committee on Media & Public Affairs and made available to newsmen on Tuesday 23rd April in Abuja.

 

The statement revealed that, in adherence to the House’s resolution of March 19, 2024, the 10th Assembly, House of Representatives is organising an investigative hearing in respect of the subject to explore the immediate and remote causes, effects, and the perpetrators of the tragic incident that led to the loss of lives, including military officers, and other related events.

 

 

The investigative public hearing offers a critical platform for stakeholders to provide valuable information and recommendations.

Accordingly, concerned stakeholders and members of the public are invited to the event to be held with details as follows:

Date: Thursday, April 25, 2024

Time: 10:00 AM

Venue: Conference Hall, Government House Annex, Edjeba Warri, Delta State

We also call for memoranda from stakeholders to enrich the deliberations. Members of the public willing to submit memoranda are requested to prepare ten (10) copies and submit them to the Committee no later than 1 (one) week from today – Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
