World Safety Day: NSITF task employers, social partners on workers’ safety

The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) has called on employers of labor and social partners to ensure that workers’ safety was prioritized at work places to save lives.

 

Mr Yusuf Olaniyi,Regional Manager of the Fund in charge of Bauchi,Gombe and Taraba states made the call during commemoration of 2024 World Day For Safety and Health at Work on Thursday in Bauchi, with the theme: Impact of Climate Change on occasional Health and Safety.

 

Olaniyi said the day was celebrated to offer awareness on the importance of Health to the workers at various working places with a view to improve the health condition of the employees.

 

He urged social partners to continue to promote, monitor and enforce compliance with the Employee Compensation Act.

 

“The social partners include the government, Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC); Trade Union Congress (TUC); the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA).

 

According to him, at celebration, like this we share ideas on how to address the challenges encountered and look for lasting solution to have a healthy working environment.

The Regional Manager explained that activities of the Fund include, promotion and enforcement of occasional safety and health standards in the workplaces.

“Rehabilitation of employees who suffer work related injuries, fair guarantee and adequate compensation of all insured employees among others.

On his part, Bauchi Branch Manager, Ibrahim Magaji said the campaign rally is an avenue to raise awareness on the importance of taking care of the health among the workers and seek the areas of collaboration with the target organizations to achieve the set objectives.
