Bauchi lawmaker empowers 435 women with N10,000 each, pledges proper representation

No fewer than 435 women from the Jama’are constituency in Bauchi state on Sunday benefitted from N10,000 presented by the member of the State House of Assembly Mr Mubarak Mairakumi as empowerment.

The lawmaker representing Jama’are Constituency Mr Mairakumi under the platform of the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP) said the empowerment programme was intended to enhance the domestic businesses of women in the area.

He said the empowerment programme would be continuous as the second and third phase is underway.

According to him, the economic situation and inflation have pushed a lot of families into poverty, stressing that as a reason for the empowerment.

“Not less than 482 women and youth 80 per cent of women and 20 per cent of youth would go home with N10,000 others would go with N5000 to enhance their local business.

“We also have various committees that take care of water rehabilitation, Education, vulnerable women, health and emergencies in the constituency,” he said.

 

The lawmaker lauded the state Governor, Bala Mohammed for creating an enabling environment for legislators in the state to make meaningful contributions towards the provision of a dividend of democracy.

“Governor Mohammed’s administration has been executing many projects in the constituency especially, those that were aimed at developing the Constituency and the state,” he said.

Mairakumi urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunity.

“I implore you to make good use of this opportunity for your growth and development of the community,” he said.

Earlier, Chairman NNPP Jama’are local government area Ahmed Bawa while lauding the lawmaker for the empowerment programme,

He promised to continuously work together with the lawmaker towards improving the lives of the constituents.

He said empowerment would go a long way in alleviating the problems faced by women on the home front considering their position as homemakers.

Bawa warned the women against the misuse of the funds given to them.
