The Kebbi State Technical Working group on Gender Based Violence together with officials of Medicaid Cancer Foundation have paid a visit to Malama Hauwa Mohammad, at the Federal Medical Center Birnin Kebbi as she recuperates following an alleged vicious attack by her husband which led to the amputation her two limbs.
The Survivor, Malama Hauwa Mohammad informed the delegation that the marriage was against her will and he was in habbit of spending months away from home. On that fateful day he came back to attack her with a machete unprovoked.
Barr Kudirat Shuaibu, who led the Technical Working group along with Dr Nura Kangiwa and Mal Nasir Karofi, promised the victim that the Kebbi State Government will do all within it’s power to ensure justice is done.
She told her the that the incidence has already been reported formally to the police and as soon as the perpetrator is apprehended investigations will be carried out to ascertain the cause of his actions and he will be charged to court accordingly.
Barr Kudi informed Hauwa and her parent TA who were also present that the committee under the instructions of HE Dr Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu, was there furtherance to it’s commitment at ensuring prompt response and reporting of GBV cases.
The delegation provided financial support to the survivor to assist in the cost of treatment. Material items like soap, wrappers, Mosquito nets were also donated to Hauwa and other patients present on the ward.
