Rivers state police commissioner request for more security as 5 people have been killed

After the new year incident that claimed the lifes of 17 people in Rivers State in an early morning attack, 5 people have been shot dead by anonymous gunmen in Egbeda community in Emohua Local Government Area.
Narrating the incidence, a security man said a group of men tasked with protecting the community crawled through the bush to chase away the bandits.
The source, revealed to a PUNCH correspondent in Emohua, that “the gunmen wore black trousers and T-shirts with red caps. They escaped when they noticed that some soldiers were trailing them through the bush in Egbeda.”
The incident happened while villagers were getting ready to start their work for the day.
“Some unknown gunmen wearing black attire with red caps came to Egbeda this morning and killed five persons.
“We all crawled through the bush to get them, but they ran away when we got there,” the eye witness said.
Mr. Ahmed Zaki, the Egbeda State Police Commissioner twho confirmed the incidence told the media teams “that the hoodlums, who shot and killed one person in Egbeda, came on motorcycles” noting that security has had to be increased in the area.
