?The Presidential Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on Nigerians to reject the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, alongside all other candidates on the party's platform in the upcoming general elections, citing their failure to pay party staff for over a year.
?In a statement issued on Monday by its spokesperson, Dele Alake, the APC Campaign Council described the ADC's non-payment of its workforce as wicked, reprehensible, and a clear reflection of the party's insincerity.
According to the campaign council, the National Working Committee of the ADC—led by Senator David Mark as Chairman and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as Secretary—has neglected to pay its staff for more than 12 months, despite making grandiose promises to the electorate.
?The council argued that a political party incapable of managing its own internal affairs and providing basic daily sustenance to its workers cannot be trusted with the governance of Nigeria.
It further asserted that the leadership of the ADC is driven primarily by personal aggrandizement and ill will toward President Bola Ahmed Tinubu rather than national interest.
?Highlighting the antecedents of the ADC's key figures, the statement recalled that Atiku Abubakar has a history of owing workers, pointing to reported protests over unpaid wages by staff at his business ventures, including Gotel Communication.
Similarly, the APC criticized the record of ADC General Secretary Rauf Aregbesola during his tenure as governor of Osun State, referencing his administration's implementation of half-salary payments and neglect of pensioners.
?Warning Nigerian voters and workers against trusting the opposition party, the APC campaign council urged citizens to reject the ADC at the polls, insisting that leaders who fail their own workforce have nothing positive to offer the country.
