?President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has lauded the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for its anti-corruption efforts, stating that the agency's achievements have fully justified the administration's trust.
Speaking on Friday, October 2, 2026, at the commissioning of the new EFCC Zonal Directorate in Awka, Anambra State, the President cited verifiable progress in court convictions, asset recoveries, and institutional reforms as clear evidence of the commission’s impact.
?Represented by Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, President Tinubu emphasized that supporting the anti-graft agency aligns directly with his administration's Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in reforming the economy and fostering good governance through accountability and transparency.

?During the event, EFCC Executive Chairman Ola Olukoyede reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to combining enforcement with proactive corruption prevention.
He announced that the new Awka directorate will actively engage local businesses, civil society, traditional leaders, and public institutions to block channels of financial crime across the zone.
Highlighting recent milestones, Olukoyede revealed that between October 2023 and July 2026, the EFCC filed 14,476 cases, secured 10,872 convictions—representing a 75.1 percent success rate—and recovered over ?1.23 trillion along with $684.4 million in stolen assets.
