The Court of Appeal in Abuja has set aside a ?100 million garnishee order absolute previously granted against the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in favor of a local contractor, Daniel Okoroji.

?The legal battle stemmed from a 2012 contractual dispute between Okoroji and the Imo State Government. Following the dispute, the contractor had secured a garnishee order absolute targeting the apex bank to recover debts allegedly owed to him by the state administration.

?Delivering the judgment, a three-member panel of the appellate court led by Justice Okon Abang ruled that Okoroji's claims against the apex bank were legally unsustainable.

?The decision effectively relieves the CBN, which was the appellant in the suit, of liability in the enforcement action instituted by Okoroji against the Imo State Government and its officials.
