?In a decisive move to protect the integrity of the nation's highest office, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to launch a thorough investigation into a fictitious body styled as the “Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council” (PFIPC).
The President has given the anti-graft agency a strict 30-day deadline to conclude the probe and submit a comprehensive report.
The swift directive follows the shocking discovery that the PFIPC is entirely fake, having never been established by the Federal Government, nor backed by any law, executive approval, or presidential instrument.
At the center of the syndicate is one Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew, who has been parading himself as the "Director-General" of the council under the false pretense of being a presidential appointee.
?The ICPC's mandate covers a wide network of alleged criminal activities tied to the scam. Specifically, the commission will investigate the forgery of official government documents and appointment letters, the use of these fake credentials to secure diplomatic support and visa facilitations, and the opening of multiple bank accounts under the guise of a government agency.
?Beyond punishing the immediate fraudsters, President Tinubu has ordered the ICPC to dig deeper into the systemic weaknesses that allowed such a brazen deception to gain an appearance of official legitimacy.
The investigation will scrutinize the movement of funds, the origin of the forged documents, and the potential complicity of any public officers, financial institutions, or private intermediaries who may have aided the scheme.
?To ensure a swift investigation, all federal ministries, departments, and agencies have been ordered to grant the ICPC full cooperation and immediate access to relevant records.
Warning that the Presidency will not tolerate the exploitation of public service vulnerabilities, President Tinubu emphasized that anyone found culpable in this forgery and impersonation ring will face the full wrath of the law.
