?The Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. (Dr.) Abike Dabiri-Erewa, OON, has commended Nigerians abroad who have attained prominent leadership positions across international organizations, global corporations, healthcare institutions, and academic establishments, describing their achievements as a source of national pride and a testament to the country's wealth of talent.
She noted that these professional accomplishments demonstrate the expertise and dedication of Nigerians to global development, innovation, research, and leadership.
?According to Dabiri-Erewa, these milestones directly align with the 4Ds of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Foreign Policy Agenda Development, Democracy, Demography, and Diaspora which positions the Nigerian diaspora as a strategic partner in advancing national priorities and strengthening international engagement.
She explained that Development is advanced when diaspora professionals contribute expertise and investment; Democracy is strengthened through the promotion of good governance; Demography recognizes the country's youthful human capital; and Diaspora underscores the mobilization of skills and networks for national progress.
?Highlighting notable examples, the NiDCOM boss pointed to the recent global achievements of Dr. Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu in international cancer control, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar in global epidemic preparedness, Dr. Bolu Ogunyemi in Canadian medical leadership, Professor Christian Harrison in academic management, Ugwechi Amadi in global corporate strategy, Dr. Salamat Ahuoiza Aliu-Ibrahim in specialized neurosurgery, and Ifeanyi Umunna in student leadership at Harvard Law School.
?Stressing the need for stronger collaboration between diaspora professionals and local institutions in healthcare, education, technology, and public policy, Dabiri-Erewa called for deliberate mechanisms to foster knowledge exchange, mentorship, and investment partnerships.
Encouraging young Nigerians to draw inspiration from these achievements through excellence and integrity, she reaffirmed NiDCOM’s commitment to documenting, celebrating, and engaging Nigerians abroad to translate individual successes into broader national development benefits.
