NCDMB AND RENAISSANCE PARTNER TO EQUIP 60 NIGERIANS WITH ADVANCED OIL AND GAS SKILLS


?The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), in partnership with Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited, has kicked off a 12-month technical training initiative aimed at equipping 60 young Nigerians with specialized oil and gas engineering expertise.


?The training, launched at Nigeria Machine Tools Limited in Osogbo, Osun State, is being executed under the Nigerian Content Human Capacity Development (NC HCD) framework for Renaissance’s EPU Phase 2 Gas Development Project.


The comprehensive curriculum covers engineering design, fitter machining, computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), electrical and mechanical maintenance, and document control.


The 12-month programme combines six months of intensive classroom instruction with six months of supervised, hands-on industry placement, leading to internationally recognized certifications.



?Speaking at the launch, NCDMB’s Director of Capacity Building, Engr. Abayomi Bamidele represented by Assistant Manager of Human Capacity Development, Mr. Tare Bufazi—highlighted the initiative as a strategic measure to bridge critical skill gaps and prepare local talent for active participation across the oil and gas value chain.


He revealed that the batch comprises 33 university graduates and 27 vocational trainees, urging them to demonstrate discipline and maximize the long-term career opportunities offered by the training.


?Representatives from collaborating organizations also commended the initiative. Mr. Richard Oyiborhor of Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited emphasized the firm’s commitment to nurturing domestic talent, while Mrs. Bisola Agboluaje of Seflam SGL noted that the training plans were initially approved by the NCDMB in 2024 as a forward-looking investment in the country's industrial workforce.


Welcoming the cohort, Chief Operating Officer of Nigeria Machine Tools, Ms. Obehi Ojeagha, expressed confidence that the institution’s 46-year legacy in technical training will help instill the competence and discipline required for the trainees to excel in the sector.
