Deputy Speaker Kalu Says Fake Presidency Letter Led Him to Meet Alleged PFIPC Boss

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has disclosed that he unknowingly met with the self-proclaimed Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) after receiving what appeared to be an official letter from the Presidency.

Kalu said the correspondence, complete with the Presidency's letterhead, office address and website, looked authentic and was verified by his staff before the meeting. However, he said the delegation focused on taking photographs rather than discussing constitutional amendments and investment issues.

The revelation came during a House debate on investigating the alleged PFIPC, which has been disowned by the Presidency.

Meanwhile, Bola Tinubu has directed the ICPC to investigate the council's activities and how it was included in the 2026 budget.
