The Dean, Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Professor Nasiru Idris, has advised the Adamawa State Government to convert Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola, into a university.
The professor made the call In an interview with Daily Trust in Abuja, where he suggested that the institution be called North-East University.
This according to him has a result of the recent suspension of all management degree programmes in all the universities of technology by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and that Federal University of Technology, Yola (FUTY) now Modibbo Adama University of Technology (MAUTECH), Yola was also affected.
Idris said, the suspension has deprived both ongoing and intending Adamawa State students the opportunity to study management courses which are very important components of the society especially in northern Nigeria. Saying that it will also serves as a milestone achievement for the north and the government since education is the backbone of every country.
