Bauchi Police arrest 2,322 suspects, recovers 23 AK-47 rifles in 2024

The Bauchi State Police Command has recorded significant achievements in the past year, with the arrest of 2,322 suspects and the recovery of various exhibits, including firearms, ammunition, and vehicles.

The Commissioner of Police, (CP) Awwal Musa stated this at a news conference on Monday in Bauchi

He said the Command’s efforts have led to a notable reduction in crime, with 1,182 cases recorded and 2,322 suspects arrested.

He said the convicted 48 cases involving 82 suspects resulted in successful convictions

“Recovered 23 AK-47 rifles, 4 G-3 rifles, 3 SMG rifles, and other firearms, as well as 746 live ammunition and 32 magazines were recovered.

“Other exhibits and a cash sum of twenty-two million and thirty-eight thousand naira (₦22,038,000) was recovered,” Musa said

He added that the Command documented seventy-three (73) cases of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) during this period under review.

According to him, the Command also took disciplinary actions against 18 personnel for professional misconduct, including the dismissal of one Police Constable and rank reductions for four officers.

CP Awwal Musa attributed the Command’s successes to the support of the Bauchi State Government, sister security agencies, and the public.

“We are grateful for the support of the Bauchi State Government, sister security agencies, and the public,

“We appeal to the public to continue providing timely and accurate information to aid our efforts in ensuring peace and security in the state.”CP Musa said.

He also hailed the Command’s achievements, saying that they were a testament to the hard work and dedication of the police personnel.

He urged the personnel to continue working tirelessly to ensure that the state remains safe and secure.
