Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has commended the Nigeria Air Force (NAF) for its outstanding contributions to counterterrorism and counterinsurgency operations in the northeast region and across the country.
Mohammed gave this commendation during the Nigerian Air Force Base Socio-Cultural Activities (BASA) at the NAF Base Bauchi on Saturday.
The Governor emphasised the crucial role of NAF’s air power capabilities in curbing the activities of terrorists and criminals, particularly in the northeast region.
Mohammed, represented by his deputy Alhaji Auwal Jatau stressed the need for enhanced cooperation among security agencies to effectively checkmate the activities of these criminals in the State.
“NAF’s air power capabilities provide the most potent solution to curbing the activities of terrorists and criminals operating in the northeast region.
“Hence, the need for enhanced cooperation among the security agencies to checkmate the activities of these criminals, particularly in Bauchi State.”Gov Mohammed said.
Earlier, Air Vice Marshal Enebong Effiom, Air Officer Commanding (AOC) Special Operations Command in Bauchi who was ably represented by AVM Edward Gabkwet reassured the NAF’s dedication to tackling and eliminating security challenges nationwide.
He highlighted effective strategies to curb insecurity in various regions, emphasizing the importance of consultations and engagements with armed forces, stakeholders, and affected communities.
“The NAF is committed to working closely with other security agencies, stakeholders, and local communities to address the security challenges facing our nation,”
“We will continue to employ effective strategies, including consultations and engagements, to ensure the safety and security of our citizens.” Effiom said.
He explained that the BASA event is an annual celebration that aims to foster unity, friendship, and cultural exchange between the NAF and the local community.
The event featured cultural dance, drama, tug of war, and other activities, showcasing the NAF’s commitment to promoting unity and cooperation among its personnel and the local community.
