The Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN) has thrown its weight behind sustainable financing for primary health care (PHC) in Bauchi State.
At the Bauchi State Task Force Annual Retreat on PHC in Gombe, AHBN Coordinator/CEO Dr. Aminu Magashi Garba, represented by Dr. Hassan Shuaibu Musa, presented “Sustainable Primary Health Care (PHC) Financing: Leveraging on the Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Board’s Law 2023 as amended”.
The presentation emphasized the need for sustainable PHC financing in Bauchi State, highlighting the importance of leveraging the provisions of the amended law
To coordinate health activities, mobilize resources, advocate for improved funding, and ensure consistent monitoring and evaluation.
Magashi urged the 20 Local Government Area (LGA) Chairmen present at the retreat to utilize the provisions of the amended law to achieve universal immunization coverage and improved PHC outcomes in the state.
The retreat, themed “Sustainable PHC Financing in Bauchi State”, brought together stakeholders, including LGA Chairmen, health experts, and government officials, to explore ways to strengthen PHC financing and improve health outcomes in Bauchi State.
Bauchi State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Auwal Jatau, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to strengthening the primary healthcare system,
Expanding access to essential healthcare services, and achieving universal healthcare coverage.
Auwal Jatau emphasized the importance of the retreat, stating that it was an annual activity planned under the Primary Health Care Memorandum of Understanding (PHC-MoU) arrangement to review performance, identify challenges, and proffer solutions to PHC service delivery in the state.
