Zulum Appoints Chair, CMD for Borno University Teaching Hospital

 

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum has approved the appointment of the Chairman Board of Management, Chief Medical Director (CMD) and key administrative officers of the management board for the Borno University Teaching Hospital.

The appointments were contained in a statement released by the Governor’s spokesperson, Dauda Iliya, on Sunday in Maiduguri.

According to the statement, Prof Ahmed Ahidjo, the Chief Medical Director of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), will serve as the chairman of the management board, while
Professor Ibrahim Kida is the newly appointed CMD.

Professor Kida is a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians, Senior Registrar West African College of Physicians, and Registrar West African College of Physicians, specialising in infectious diseases and epidemiology with a special interest in HIV/AIDS management.

Additionally, Kida is a member of the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN), the West African College of Physicians, the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA).

Alongside Prof Kida, Zulum appointed Professor Usman Tela as Chairman Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC).

Similarity, Ali Mohammed is appointed as the Director of Administration of the Hospital and Secretary to the Management Board. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Diplomacy from Schiller International University, Dunedin, Florida, USA, in 1998.

Other members of the management board include a representative of the Ministry of Health; a representative of the Medical College, BOŞU; representative of the Senate, Borno State University; representative of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA); representative of the Allied Health Professionals in Borno; representative of the UMTH, and a representative of the Vice Chancellor, Borno State University.

Others include Abba Bashir Marte, Samson Dibal, and Dr Musa Aji, who will represent the public interest from the three (3) senatorial districts of Borno State.

The statement noted that Zulum congratulated all the appointees and urged them to bring their wealth of experience to bear in clinical practice and healthcare management so as to provide the needed services to the people of Borno State.

The statement also quoted Zulum as saying, “Our goal is to provide our people with the best possible healthcare while also training the next generation of medical professionals.”

The statement equally noted that all the appointments are subject to confirmation by the Borno State House of Assembly.
