Deputy Speaker, Kalu condemns attack on Rep. Onwusibe’s motorcade in Abia

 

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, has strongly condemned the attack on Representative Ginger Onwusibe’s motorcade in Abia State, which sadly claimed the life of a dedicated security aide.

The incident reportedly occurred Sunday night at Ubakala junction, Umuahia South Local Government Area, when unidentified gunmen ambushed the convoy.

Fortunately, Rep. Onwusibe who represents Isiala North and Isiala South Federal Constituency of the State was not in the vehicle, but a policeman attached to him was tragically killed.

Deeply saddened by the heinous attack, Kalu who also represents Bende Federal Constituency of the State demanded a swift and thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice, emphasizing that the safety and security of leaders and their teams are of utmost importance.

He said that no form of violence, crime and criminality must be allowed a place in Abia or anywhere in the country, warning perpetrators to stay away from God’s own State.

He commiserated with the family of the victim, the police hierarchy and Abia State government, urging authorities to take immediate action to prevent the reoccurence of such senseless violence.

“Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family, friends, and colleagues of the slain police officer. We must stand united against violence and work towards creating a secured environment for all”, Kalu said.
