Bauchi’s General Manager of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Engineer Abubakar Garba Abdulaziz, has urged religious and traditional leaders to support efforts to protect TCN facilities, ensuring uninterrupted power supply.
Abdulaziz made the called during an interactive session with the media recently in Bauchi.
He highlighted TCN’s capacity to operate 27 generation stations nationwide, with the Bauchi regional office overseeing six northeast states, including Plateau, and parts of Kaduna and Kano.
Abdulaziz emphasized the significance of the Bauchi office, boasting the largest transmission network designed to meet regional power demands.
He expressed optimism about the upcoming commissioning of the Bauchi 330 KVA line, anticipated to enhance power supply within the state and beyond.
According to him, the federal government, in partnership with international donors, is upgrading facilities and transmission lines to ensure constant power supply.
Abdulaziz expressed concern over persistent vandalism and illegal encroachments disrupting operational efficiency.
He urged state governments and authorities to prevent construction and business activities within transmission corridors and educate the public on protecting federal assets.
Abdulaziz commended Yobe State’s local government initiatives, engaging the Civilian Joint Task Force to monitor and prevent transmission line vandalism.
