The newly elected President of the National Union of Bauchi State Students (NUBASS), Comrade Sadiq Abdullahi Faggo, has expressed concerns about the current economic hardship in Nigeria, particularly affecting students.

Faggo express this concern during a valedictory press briefing on Wednesday in Bauchi.

He called on government agencies and international partners to intervene and support students struggling to pay school registration fees and transportation costs

“Faggo pledged to collaborate with NGOs and government agencies to support students

“To ensure students benefit from the controversial loan scheme and as well to prioritize student welfare and security

“To also run an inclusive administration during his tenure as NUBAS president,” he said

On his emergence as NUBASS President, he expressed his gratitude to his members for the support and assured them of his resolve to run an all-inclusive administration in which everyone would be carried along and no one will be left behind

“It will be recalled that during our electioneering campaign, we promised to prioritize the welfare and well-being of our teeming members across the country,” he said

The NUBASS President promised to protect and promote students’ rights and interests.

“Now that I have the students mandate, I shall not rest on my cars until all those promises are fulfilled,” he assured.

“This is another way of saying that I am determined to live above board so as to justify the confidence reposed in me alongside my executive”

He promised to ensure that special attention is given to the security of lives of all students on campuses.

“This is also in tandem with Governor Bala Mohammed’s policy of ensuring that Bauchi State maintains its position as one of the safest and most peaceful states in the country,” he said.

“The governor’s recent alert to the presidency on the activities of some criminal elements and their high profile collaborators is testament to his unwavering desire for a crime free Bauchi State in particular and Nigeria as a whole
