Arewa Consensus for Jonathan (AC-Jonathan), a coalition of patriotic groups and individuals from northern Nigeria, has called on former President Goodluck Jonathan to run for president again in the 2027 general election.
Mr Manniru Musa Yisin National Coordinator, AC-Jonathan2027 Project made the call in a news conference on Sunday in Bauchi
The group cited Jonathan’s track record of outstanding leadership qualities and power of character during his presidency from 2010 to 2015 ¹.
According to Yisin, Jonathan’s administration achieved notable successes, including rebasing the Nigerian economy, stabilizing the naira, and improving citizens’ standard of living.
He specifically highlighted his tailored human development programs aimed at addressing human capital deficits in the northern region, such as the Almajiri Education Initiative.
The Coordinator also praised Jonathan’s efforts in agriculture, particularly the e-wallet fertilizer distribution program, which made fertilizer accessible to farmers at a negligible cost.
This initiative not only put food on the tables of Nigerians but also provided rural farmers with opportunities to save money for education, healthcare, and other basic needs
He emphasized that Jonathan’s leadership qualities, combined with his southern Nigerian heritage, make him an ideal candidate to maintain the nation’s presidency for eight straight years starting from 2023.
The group believes that safeguarding the unwritten rules of power rotation between the north and south is crucial for Nigeria’s unity and harmonious coexistence ¹.
Mr Yisin urged all well-meaning Nigerians to join them in their efforts to persuade Jonathan to run and rally behind him until he successfully returns to the State House in the next presidential election.
