In furtherance to his earlier presentation at the ongoing AFRIPOL Steering Committee Meeting in Algeria, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, on Wednesday 30th October, 2024, presented the action plans of strategic policies concepts in Nigeria and the West African subregion in general to boost effective policing at all levels.
The IGP laid the template for the discussion on the strategies for executing coordinated investigations and operations across regions to effectively tackle various patterns of crimes and criminality, and the significance of training of officers in all areas of policing a complex society as we have in order to meet up with global best practices.
He thereafter paid an official visit to the headquarters of AFRIPOL as part of his activities towards creating a concrete relationship with other African policing services.
He was received by the President, Douglas Kanja, IG National Police Service, Kenya, where both IGPs shared experiences on how to best manage violent protests in Africa. In attendance, also was Head of Legal at AU, Ambassador Mohammed, from the legal consulate African Union.
The IGP urged leaders and representatives of the regions to ensure policies decided upon at the meeting are leveraged to the fullest at all policing levels within their jurisdiction to ensure expertise and proficiency is exemplified in the fight against the increase in crime waves within the African region.
