Gov. Kefas to Commission TARABA Airport in December

Taraba state governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, has revealed that the Danbaba Suntai Airport in Jalingo would be ready for commissioning in December 2024.

Gov Kefas made this known after meeting with construction giant, CCECC, in his recent trip to China.

The airport, which has since begun commercial flights, will be upgraded to accommodate more airlines and more days of flying. Currently, there are three flights per week to and from Abuja to Jalingo.

Gov Kefas seeks to expand this operation. In a statement he personally signed, he noted that the partnership with CCECC will contribute to great changes in the state.

The statement reads in part

“Fellow Citizens of Taraba State,

I am pleased to update you on the positive outcome of my recent visit to Beijing, China, where I held a productive meeting with the President of the China Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC). This meeting was part of my ongoing efforts to implement our Taraba Development Master Plan 2024 and secure key partnerships that will drive the transformation of our state.

During our discussions, the President of CCECC expressed his strong interest in collaborating with our state to bring our development vision to life. He reaffirmed CCECC’s commitment to completing the ongoing rehabilitation of the Danbaba Suntai Airport in Jalingo. I am excited to inform you that the rehabilitation project will be completed on time, ensuring that the airport is ready for commissioning by December this year.

This development is a major milestone for Taraba State. The Danbaba Suntai Airport is a critical gateway for trade, tourism, and development, and its completion will significantly enhance connectivity and open up new economic opportunities for our state.

Our partnership with CCECC is only the beginning. As we look forward to commissioning the airport, I assure you that this collaboration will extend to other infrastructure projects that will transform Taraba into a leading hub for commerce, agriculture, and industry in Nigeria and beyond.

I thank you all for your continued support as we work together to move Taraba forward.”
