In an effort to alleviate poverty and support the local economy, the Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, has commended the efforts of a non-governmental organization, Dangin Juna Afirka Initiative (DJAI), for assisting 70 vulnerable individuals in Zaria, Kaduna State.
The group provided each beneficiary with ten thousand naira to boost their small businesses.
The Emir made this commendation during the group’s 9th Annual Charity Program, where they selected 70 vulnerable women, widows, and elderly men, offering them financial support to help improve their economic standing.
Representing the Emir was the District Head of Igabi, Marafan Dawakin Zazzau, who praised the initiative. He emphasized the importance of such efforts, especially during challenging times, noting that supporting the less privileged through financial aid is a commendable action.
“People are suffering and struggling to find what to eat, and Dangin Juna Afirka’s effort to assist is truly remarkable. I urge others to emulate this initiative,” said the Emir’s representative.
He also called on wealthy individuals and groups to partner with DJAI, emphasizing that contributions made through the organization would reach those in need.
In his remarks, the chairman of DJAI, Usman BK Katsina, explained that the group considers this annual charity event a responsibility.
He stated that each year, members contribute what they can, no matter how small, and meet to decide how best to serve the community.
Last year, DJAI dug three wells in Kaduna, including one on Abuja Road, two in Badarawa, and renovated the Bashama Road graveyard, all in memory of their deceased members.
Usman BK, said they have assisted people in states such as Niger, Bauchi, Gombe, Jigawa, and Kaduna, with the most recent efforts focused on Zaria.
Usman BK also called on other groups and wealthy individuals to follow DJAI’s example, noting that such efforts reduce redundancy and begging among youths and the vulnerable.
He added that no one who has received capital assistance should continue begging, as it empowers them to be self-reliant.
Some of the beneficiaries interviewed expressed their gratitude to Dangin Juna Afirka for their generosity and prayed for Allah’s blessings on the group.
