The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned the terrorist attack that occurred on Tuesday, 17th September, 2024, in Bamako, Mali, targeting a military airport, training centre and other sensitive locations.
The attack, which has claimed lives and caused destruction of several military aircraft, is a stark reminder of the persistent threat posed by extremist groups in the region.
According to Amb. Eche Abu-Obe, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “acts of terrorism, regardless of where they occur, represent a threat to peace and security for the entire region.”
In a statement issued on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abu-Obe emphasized Nigeria’s condemnation of the attack, saying, “This heinous act is a clear affront to human dignity and a threat to global peace and security. We extend our deepest condolences to the Government and people of Mali, particularly to the families of those who lost their lives.”
Nigeria also extends its thoughts and prayers to the victims of this tragic incident. “We are deeply saddened by this senseless act of violence and our hearts go out to the people of Mali,” the Spokesperson said.
