The Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command, (CP) Mohammed Lawal Yusufu, has conducted an assessment and confidence-building patrol in Maiduguri municipal to assess the impact of the recent devastating flood incident.
The patrol aimed to instil confidence in the public and reaffirm the police command’s dedication to upholding law and order, particularly in the face of challenges posed by the flood incident.
During the patrol, CP Yusufu visited key locations, including Maiduguri Monday Market, Bulabulin, and the Gwange area, to strengthen public trust and enhance the relationship between the police and the community.
He also inspected the Police Divisional Headquarters at Bulabulin and Gwange, which were impacted by the flood, to assess the extent of the damage and offer words of encouragement to officers and men.
The CP deployed police personnel at Gwange Cemetery, which was also affected by the flood, and inspected the submerged and partially collapsed perimeter fence.
He urged the public to maintain a safe distance from the cemetery and cooperate with the police during the execution of their lawful duties.
The patrol is part of the police command’s efforts to reassure the public of their commitment to ensuring public safety and security, even in the face of natural disasters like the recent flood incident.
The CP’s actions align with the belief that “the people are the police and the police are the people,” emphasizing the importance of community policing and collaboration.
