Bauchi okada riders association urges members to shun protest

The Bauchi State Keke Napep and Okada Riders Association has called on its members to shun proposed young nationwide protests scheduled for August 1st 2024.

The state Chairman of the Association, Alhaji Bala Dauda made the call in a press conference on Saturday in Bauchi

He urged members to remain at home on the day of the protest to ensure their safety and that of the general public.

Dauda emphasized that the Association’s decision was made after careful consideration and consultation with relevant stakeholders.

“The safety of our members and the general public is our top priority,” Alh Bala Dauda said. “We cannot afford to risk lives and properties, especially in these uncertain times.”

The Chairman also directed sector leaders to immediately convey the message to their members, emphasizing the importance of avoiding any potential disruptions or violence associated with the protest.

The Association’s decision comes amid concerns about potential violence and disruptions, and a desire to ensure the safety and well-being of its members and the public.

The Keke Napep and Achaba Riders Association pledge to contribute to maintaining peace and stability in the state, and ensure the safety and well-being of its members and the general public.

Meanwhile, the State Government and Organized Labour have also disassociated themselves from the planned protest, citing concerns about potential disruptions and violence.

In a separate news conference, the Bauchi State Government and Organized Labour in the state urged citizens to go about their normal activities without fear, assuring them of adequate security measures to maintain law and order.

The protest, scheduled to take place next month August 1st has been called by various groups demanding action on several national issues.

However, concerns about potential violence and disruptions have led to widespread calls for caution and restraint.
