Stakeholders caution against idolising international celebrities to promote LGBTQ

Stakeholders have cautioned Nigerians against idolising international celebrities who often use their platforms in music, sports, and film to promote les­bian, gay, bisex­u­al, trans­gen­der, queer or ques­tion­ing (LGBTQ) agenda.

This is contained in a communique signed by Dr. Adamu Hamid Ameer, Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSS Bauchi unit after a Public Forum on how the SAMOA agreement undermine religious and Nigeria cultural identity Organised by the MSSN on Sunday

The Stakeholders strongly advised parents to monitor their children’s television viewing habits and guide them away from content, including cartoons, that subtly promote LGBTQ themes and undermine
traditional Nigerian values.

According to the Communique ,MSSN, Bauchi Area Unit, resolved to engage social media influencers in creating and
disseminating content that educates their followers about the risks associated with LGBTQ agendas.

It also tasked Da’awa organizations for developing short video jingles to sensitize communities across Nigeria about the need to uphold traditional values and reject LGBTQ influences.

The communique stressed the need for increased awareness and education on international agreements and their
implications on local customs and religious beliefs.

“Religious and cultural organizations should collaborate to create a unified stance on issues that threaten cultural and religious values.

“Continuous dialogue between government, religious bodies, and educational institutions is essential to address and mitigate the potential negative impacts of international agreements like SAMOA.

“Advocacy and policy efforts should be strengthened to ensure that Nigeria’s cultural and religious identity is preserved and respected in international forums,” It said.

The Stakeholders comprises Islamic and Christians clerics, traditional rulers, government officials, Academia, Students, Civil Society Organisations, Media among others.
