Gombe state government has promised to partner with the Civil Society –Scaling up Nutrino in Nigeria CS-SUNN, for the benefit of children suffering from malnutrition
The secretary to the state government Professor Abubakar Ibrahim Njodi made the promise yesterday in his office when Gombe State CS-SUNN Coalition paid him an Advocacy visit to seek for the extension of paid maternity leave to breastfeeding mothers in the state and increase and prompt releases of nutrition budgets.
Njodi, said their visit is timely because Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya through the ministry of science, technology and Innovation has engaged experts and stakeholders in producing the food for malnutrition locally and distributes it to primary health care facilities
He said nutrition is a major concern of the government, because Gombe state is left behind , and express happiness with the coming of CS-SUNN,adding that government will further collaborate with CS-SUNN in tackling malnutrition in the state.
Njodi, assured them of partnership because they are the major stakeholders in fighting against malnutrition in the state.
In her remarks the state Coordinator, CS-SUNN Mrs Comfort Mukollo, urged the government to increase funding for Nutrition in the state, and made a call to government to extend the maternity leave of breastfeeding mothers to 6 months .
