Expert advice broiler farmers on correct feeds to improve production

A Expert, Mr Mohammed Sani Muazu, a lecturer from the Animal Production Department of the Bauchi State College of Agriculture has advised broiler farmers to feed their chickens with the right food to improve production.

He gave the advice at the weekly lecture presentation of the Agricultural Interactive Stakeholders Forum on Wednesday in Bauchi, focusing on broiler chicken production and management.

Muazu urged the farmers to feed their chickens the right food and use the correct feed in the right quantities for optimal nutrition.

“ Ensure good water management, and ensure your chickens have access to clean water at all times.

“Improve disease control, regularly clean out the chicken houses and rest the houses for at least 14 days,” he said.

According to Muazu, broiler chicken production is a vital source of protein for human consumption.

“But farmers face numerous challenges, including disease management, feed quality, and environmental sustainability.

He emphasized the need for biosecurity measures, vaccination programs, and sustainable feed sources to address these challenges.

Muazu also urged stakeholders to support broiler farmers by providing extension services and training programs to promote best practices.

He however called on farmers, producers, and stakeholders to collaborate and promote sustainable broiler chicken production and management practices.

In a remark, Mr. Joshua Joseph, former Zonal Project Manager at Bauchi State Agricultural Development Programme (BSADP) encouraged extension workers to put into practice what they had learned and serve as examples for farmers to emulate.

He also urged farmers to adhere to the advice given to them for optimal productions broiler chickens in the state.
