Eid-el-Kabir: Kalu congratulates Muslims, urges unity, sacrifice, national cohesion

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu has congratulated Nigerian Muslims as they join their counterparts world over to celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Levinus Nwabughiogu, Kalu called the Muslim faithful and indeed, all Nigerians to pursue unity and national cohesion, adopting the age-old maxim “united we stand, divided we fall”.

Reminding the people that sacrifice is the cornerstone of the celebrations, the deputy speaker also encouraged them to eschew selfishness and imbibe the teachings of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) whose life provided a profound example of moral excellence, compassion, and leadership that transcends religious boundaries.

Kalu asked Nigerians to cultivate virtuous qualities and seek to build a more just and compassionate society where there will be no discriminations irrespective of religious and ethnic backgrounds.

He said that the federal government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is working assiduously to better the lot of the citizenry through his Renewed Hope agenda even as he called for persistent prayers for leaders at all levels of government.

Wishing all Muslims happy celebrations, the deputy speaker also appealed to them to share the times with the underserved in the society in the spirit of love and sacrifice.
