The Nigeria Labour Congress(NLC) in Bauchi State has commended the state governor, Sen. Bala Mohammed for releasing N10,000 wage award to civil servants in the State.
Mr Ibrahim Maikudi, Acting NLC Chairman in the State gave the commendation at a news conference on Thursday in Bauchi.
He said following the deliberations between the Head of Service and the labour leaders the governor has graciously approved N10,000 as wage award to civil servants in the state.
“The governor had said the approval was in tandem with his commitment to easing the hardship being faced by the civil servants.
“The timeliness of the release of the organised labour appreciated the gesture would go a long way in cushioning the current harsh economic realities on civil servants.
“We write to appreciate the approval and release of N10,000 to the civil servants; it will serve as an immediate intervention that will alleviate the suffering of the civil servants in the State.
“While appreciating and pledging their support to the governor, the unions, however, called on the Governor to also consider pensioners with gesture,” he
said.
Maikudi urged civil servants to reciprocate the gesture by working assiduously towards the development of the state.
