The House of Representatives mourns the demise of Second Republic lawmaker, Sidi Ali, who passed on at the age of 86, on Thursday.
A two-term member of the House of Representatives representing Dambatta Constituency on the platform of People’s Redemption Party (PRP), he served on the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) where he made impressive contributions.

In his message of condolence, Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, PhD, described Alhaji Ali as one of the brilliant minds from the Northern part of Nigeria. He also noted that the late Ali was a good ambassador of the National Assembly, whose demise is painful,
Speaker Abbas commiserates with the late Sidi Ali’s family, as well as the people and government of Kano State, while praying to Allah, to grant him Jannatul Firdaus.
Similarly, the House condoles with the family of Senator Ayogu Eze, CON, as well as the people and government of Enugu State, on his demise.
Sixty-six-year-old Eze, whose sad demise occurred on Thursday, was a member of the National Assembly representing Enugu North Senatorial District on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) between 2007 and 2015. Notably, he served as Senate Spokesman in the 6th National Assembly, where he gained national prominence.
The late Senator Eze practised as a journalist before joining politics in 1998, after which he was elected pioneer State Secretary of the PDP, Enugu Chapter. He also served in various capacities as Commissioner for Information and Culture under then Governor Chimaroke Nnamani, and Special Adviser to the then Governor.
Senator Eze held the position of Federal Commissioner of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) before his demise, following his confirmation by the Red Chamber in May 2023.
Expressing sadness over Senator Eze’s death, Speaker Abbas described the ex-lawmaker as “a fine gentleman who served his country with zeal and commitment, especially during his time in the Senate.” He also prayed for the repose of the soul of the late ex-lawmaker.
