The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Bauchi State Chapter has urged its members to also focus activities on other sports apart from football.

This is contained in a communique issued at the end of its congress signed by Secretary Bala Bawaji and made available to journalists in Bauchi on Friday.

The communique noted that sports writers only concentrated on football, despite other sporting activities such as lawn tennis, table tennis, basketball, and badminton.

“Lack of attention by sports journalists and other sports activities were relegated to the background, it urged SWAN to step up and recognize other sports in there,” it said.

The Communique also advised that state executives should inform the state Ministry of Education about developing or organizing school sports as a way of encouraging younger ones and talent discovery.

It calls for unity among members of the sports writers in the state. Saying it only through unity development will be achieved.

The communique pledged its total support to the National Executive Committee NEC led by Mr Isaiah Benjamin.

The Congress at the end formed a three-member electoral committee, Ishola Micheal Adeyemi, Kabiru Abubakar and Kabiru Ahmad Ilelah that will conduct the forthcoming state election, scheduled for April this year.
