Zamfara State marked the 2024 International Women’s Day with a flourish of empowerment initiatives and promises for a brighter future for its women.
The occasion was organized by the First Lady, Haj. Huriyya Dauda Lawal, the event garnered attention from high-ranking officials, promising significant support and opportunities for women across the state.
Echoing the sentiment of progress and inclusivity, the First Lady reiterated her unwavering support for women’s causes in the state. She vows to continue advocating for women’s rights and opportunities, reflects a concerted effort to address gender disparities and promote female empowerment across all sectors.

She said, “ Today as we commemorate #InternationalWomensDay, let us renew our dedication to create a world where every woman can thrive and every girl can achieve her dreams.
I took the leading in commemorating the International Women’s Day in our dear state. With my dedication to women’s empowerment, I have brought together thirty-five (35) women organizations from across the state for a day of inspiration and action”.
The first lady, also extend a helping hand to those in need by providing grants to people with special needs enabling them to kick-start their own businesses. This move underscores the administration’s dedication to fostering economic independence and inclusivity among its citizens and in honouring the chief Judge, Hon. Justice Kulu Aliyu with an award of excellence for her outstanding achievements.
In his Remarks, Governor Lawal emphasized the importance of creating an enabling environment for women to thrive, highlighting the pivotal role they play in driving socio-economic development.
He pledged to implement policies that promote gender equality, improve access to education and healthcare, and create avenues for women to actively participate in decision-making processes.
The event was graced by the executive Governor, Dr. Dauda Lawal, along his entourage, Senior Civil Servants, Religious leaders, Royal mothers, Women in businesses and politicians among others. Their presence underscored the collective commitment to advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment in the state.
