Qatar Charity Org, Zakah Foundation grant scholarship to 22 orphans in Gombe

The Zakah & Waqf Foundation in Collaboration with Qatar Charity Organisation has taken over the sponsorship of 22 orphans studying in some private schools in Gombe state.

A statement signed by the Secretary of the Media Team of Zakah & Waqf Foundation, Isma’il Ibrahim, on behalf of the Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Abubakar, Lamido, says the initiative involves full sponsorship by Qatar Charity and Management under the supervision of Zakah & Waqf Foundation.

According to the statement which was made available to our correspondent, so far, about 20 orphans were benefiting from the scheme while hundreds more were waiting to join.

Isma’il Ibrahim explained that the orphans had already started schooling and had spent two terms studying under the scheme.

The Zakah and Waqf Foundation had earlier visited the various schools where the orphans are pursuing their education to see the level of thier performance.

Qatar’s sponsorship of the students is not only meant to facilitate access to quality education but also to instill hope and a sense of purpose in these young lives.

The initiative also underscores the importance of education in breaking the cycle of poverty and empowering the next generation.

The children were treated to an enriching experience at the Gombe State University Zoo and playing ground to explore the zoo and exposed them to a variety of animals, fostering a sense of wonder and curiosity, according to the statement.
