Emir of Dass turbans CSO Forsen, as first uwar marayu, for her selfless service

The Emir of Dass, Alhaji Usman Biyaminu Othman has turbaned the Project Manager MEDA, Mrs Grace Forsen, a Civil Society Organisation (CSO) as the First Uwar Marayun Dass (Mother of the Orphans) for her selfless service and empowerment projects to the Community.

He said the Dass emirate could do more to express its gratitude for the development she brought to the people of the Emirate, especially Women and other vulnerable target groups.

The Emir also explained that the first Uwar Marayun Dass had severally demonstrated her love and passion for improving force the economic status of the people

 

“Through the Global Affairs Canada funded MEDA Nigeria WAY Project when she served as the Country Project Manager in Bauchi.

“The project impacted positively on the lives of the people, assuring that the structures MEDA established are already being sustained and replicated in other communities within and outside the Emirate,” Othman said.

Highlights of the event include a traditional horse ride by the first Uwar Marayu, amidst beats of drums, trumpets and mini Durbar within Dass streets.

In her response, Mrs Fosen apprMrsted the Emir and the entire Dass Community for the honor done to her, honour a pledge of her continued loyalty to the emirate.

She also pledged to collaborate with organizations and groups and as well as well-meaning Nigerwell-meaning establish a scholarship program specifically targeting Orphans in the emirate.

The First Uwar Marayun Dass said that the honour is not done to her alone but also to Global Affairs Canada, MEDA team, local partners and beneficiaries of the MEDA Nigeria WAY Project.

She also appreciates the Dass Emirate Council and Bauchi Emirate Council for supporting the MEDA Project Implementation.

The First Uwar Marayun Dass is an indigene of Taraba State and has a degree in Agricultural Economics and a Masters Degree in Business Administration. She has facilitated projects and programs that enhance economic empowerment and development especially for women
