Nigerians are suffering and in dire need of government intervention in the areas of economy and health care, National Chairman, Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Ikammatis Sunnah (JIBWIS), Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, has said.

The Islamic cleric, made the statement, Sunday at the opening of the JIBWIS 27th annual National Qur’an competition, held at the multipurpose hall of the University of Jos.

“Nigerians are suffering, most of them are leaning, and they cut across, security personnel, including some politicians;…those politicians whose elections were rigged.

“Our hospitals have turned to prison, where patients are detained for non-payment of their medical bills. Just last week a woman died at hospital Jos, (Jos University Teaching Hospital), but she was detained for not being able to pay her remaining bill of N533,000:00, only,” he asserted.

Sheikh Jingir said politicians, particularly legislators should formulate a workable law that would ensure that Nigerians are not detained for failure to pay off their medical bills.

“The government must mitigate the sufferings of Nigerians, economically, and health-wise” he urged.

In a goodwill message, Senator Ahmad Aliyu Wada harped on the fear of Allah and the significance of education as a panacea to national unity and peaceful coexistence.

He said Muslims must live a life as thought by the Qur’an, which teaches love, patience, and peaceful coexistence amongst divergent beliefs.

“We must live to promote Qur’an and Islamic teachings, we must exhibit the ideals of Islam; by our character, through peaceful coexistence amongst us, and even those that are not Muslims,” he admonished.
