A non-governmental organisation named Ahmed Abubakar Gana Foundation in Gombe State on Monday donated 130 tree seedlings to Hinna the community to promote tree planting and other environmental best practices in the community.
The foundation intervenes in the Education, Environment, Health and Empowerment sectors with the to socio-economic development in Gombe state and beyond.
Mr Abubakar Musa, team leader of the foundation said that the gesture was aimed to promote and encourage residents in the present environment and initiate a tree planting campaign to reduce factors associated with climate change and global warming.
He said that the seedlings were to be distributed across public facilities in the community.
Musa said that the foundation also donated textbooks to schools for improved quality education.
“The seedlings will protect the environment and provide a source of income as among the seedlings are economic trees such as mongo, guava and neem trees among others.
“If the seedlings are monitored, they will the environment healthy be windbreakers and address desertification.
“The books are to be distributed among primary and secondary schools that include; Hinna Primary School, Government Secondary School Hinna and Bello Central Primary School Dadin Kowa,” she explained.
The team leader reiterates the commitment of the foundation to partnering with other stakeholders and development partners to improve the well-being of residents in Gombe state.
Musa called for collective efforts in complementing efforts in all sectors of his endeavour. endeavouring the items on behalf of the community, Alhaji Idris Ngurkuma, the district head of Hinna applauded the foundation for its foresight to Initiate the tree Planting exercise and promised to ensure that the seedlings were supervised and monitored after plantation.
He also said that the educational materials would be deployed in various schools to improve the teaching and learning process.
Similarly, Alh Umaru Musa, a community leader in Hinna, spoke on behalf of the Elders of the Hinna Community and also commanded the foundation for giving back to the society.
He pledged the support and commitment of the community leaders in activities that would foster development in Gombe and the country at large.
