Jatau urges the Bauchi committee on PHCs not to compromise quality healthcare delivery

The Bauchi State Deputy Governor Auwal Mohammed Jatau who is also the Chairman of the State Task Force on Primary Health Care (PHCs) urged the Committee not to compromise health care delivery to the citizens in the State.

Jatau made the call at the 3rd quarter meeting of the Taskforce committee on PHCs on Saturday in Bauchi,

He pointed out that the task force’s dedication to improving primary healthcare services in the state has been unwavering.

He tasked members of the committee to continue to work together by creating a more inclusive, accessible, and high-quality primary healthcare system in line with the present administration’s unwavering commitment to the well-being of its people.

According to him, the major task of the task force is to ensure improvement, transparency, accountability and high-level oversight of primary healthcare service delivery in the State,

“Through partnership with development partners and other donor agencies,” he said.

Jatau said the focus of the state government on improving the accessibility and quality of primary healthcare services has yielded remarkable results.

“The significant strides made in reducing maternal and infant mortality rates, combating contagious diseases, and increasing immunization coverage across the state.

“Let me express my gratitude to all members of the task force for their tireless efforts and commitment to our cause.

“Each of you has played a pivotal role in shaping the direction of primary healthcare. Your expertise, insights, and unwavering passion have been instrumental in driving positive change in our healthcare system,” he said.

The Deputy Gov said “It is crucial to reflect on our achievements and the progress we have made in the past quarter.

“The objectives of today’s meeting are to update members on the Primary Health Care Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), to update members on the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine introduction and the level of preparedness and the supplementary Immunization Activities in the State.

“It is important to remember that our work is far from over. We must continually analyze and evaluate our efforts to identify areas where we can further improve.

“It is only through relentless dedication and innovation that we can truly transform the primary healthcare landscape of the State,” he said

Jatau urged members of the task force to assist the government in Strengthening primary healthcare infrastructure, enhancing the availability of essential drugs and equipment, as well as investing in the training and development of healthcare Workers.

He further enjoined members of the STF on the need to intensify efforts towards promoting community participation and engagement for the sustainability of healthcare initiatives.

He reassured partners that the administration of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed remains committed to its MoU obligations, hence the need to continue to demonstrate leadership and a high sense of political will to ensure an effective healthcare system.

On his part, the STF Core-Chairman and Emir of Dass, Usman Bilyaminu Othman reaffirmed the readiness of the traditional institutions towards programs on primary healthcare for the health benefits of their subjects.
