NUJ collaborates with NSCDC to rid crime, criminalities in Niger State

 

The Niger State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, has assured the State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) of continued synergy to rid the state of crimes and criminalities.

 

The Chairman of the State Council of NUJ, Comrade Abu Nmodu gave the assurance during a courtesy visit paid to the Council by the State Commandant, Comdt. Willie Elijah Etim at the IBB Pen House in Minna today, 6th October, 2023.

NUJ, Niger State Council revealed that Abu Nmodu said Journalists under the umbrella of the Union are professionals practising the ethical codes of journalism stressing that members of the Fourth Estate of the Realm in the State have a long history of responsible journalism.

He said so far, no fewer than 80 Journalists in the State have improved their skills from the Council’s Training and Retraining initiative within and outside the State to keep abreast with the dynamism of journalism.

 

Earlier, the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Comdt. Willie Elijah Etim said the visit aimed to seek improved collaboration between the two organisations especially in the area of publicity and media coverage.

 

He intimated to the Chairman on the activities of the Command adding that the Command was into the Safe School Initiative aimed at eliminating any incident that poses a threat to the security and safety of schools in the State.

 

The newly deployed Commandant pointed out that the Command was aware of the importance of collaboration with various Institutions and organisations as a proactive means of checking insecurity hence the visit.

 

He added that the Command have a robust Crisis Management Directorate that strives through synergy with other agencies to Safeguard lives and properties in the State.
