The Bauchi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has upheld the victory of Governor Bala Mohammed of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the March 18 governorship election.
It could be recalled that in March, 2023 the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Mohammed the winner of the polls.
Mohammed emerged the winner after polling 525,280 votes while Abubakar got 432,272.
The tribunal dismissed the petition filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governorship candidate, former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar.
The tribunal stated that there was no strong reason to nullify the election because it was conducted in compliance with the law.
The Justice P.T Kwahar-led three-man panel gave the judgment on Wednesday, September 20. 2023
