Jigawa police command arrests criminals, recovers N1.4m

The Jigawa state police command has arrested kidnappers, vandals, motorcycle thieves, animal rustlers, recovers 1.4 million naira of exhibits among others in the state.

 

 

This is contained in a statement issued to newsmen on Monday evening 21st August, 2023 by the command’s public relations officer (PPRO) DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam.

 

 

The statement said “On 24/6/2023 at about 0250hrs, unknown armed men in their number, stormed Fulani settlement camp located in Musari village, Guri LGA and abducted one Abdu Biji ‘m’ 35yrs of same address”.

The PPRO said following a tip-off, detectives attached to State Intelligence Bureau (SIB) Jigawa state Command, arrested one Buba Alh. Audu ‘m’ age 37yrs of Dagana village Guri LGA, Adamu Dahiru ‘m’ 38yrs of Majen Fulani Auyo LGA, Bello Mallam ‘m’ age 20yrs Maina Duggu Fulani settlement Birniwa LGA and Mamman Bello ‘m’ 20yrs of Bodala Guri LGA. On investigation, all the suspects confessed to the commission of the offence.

 

He said on a different development, on 16/8/2023 at about 0200hrs a group of armed men in their numbers in a maroon golf wagon car, were seen at Dunkumi village Garki LGA.

 

Shiisu stated that on receipt of the information, a team of Policemen from Garki Divisional headquarters surfaced the scene, on sighting the police, the hoodlums fled to unknown destination and abandoned a bag containing one million, four hundred and fifty thousand naira cash (1,450,000.00k), effort has been intensified with a view to arrest the fleeing culprits.

In addition, the statement said on 16/8/2023 at about 1100hrs, report from reliable source disclosed that, Animal rustlers stormed the house of one Hardo Musa ‘m’ age 60yrs of Unguwar Toro village Babura LGA, and stole his unspecified number of sheep.

 

Thereafter, the PPRO analyzed that the people from Unguwan Toro village, mobilized and traced the foot prints of the culprits, fortunately they found the sheep alongside the thieves. On the process, one of the suspects by name Alh. Yahaya Adamu ‘m’ age 50yrs of Indurkuba village Babura LGA was seriously injured by mob action.

 

According to him, on receiving the information, policemen attached to Babura Division, swiftly moved to the scene and took the victim to the General Hospital Babura for treatment, later he gave up the ghost while receiving treatment.

He said In the course of investigation, the following suspects were arrested in connection with the case;
Kabiru A. Muazu ‘m’ age 30yrs ‘m’ of Achiya village, Hardo Musa ‘m’ age 60yrs of Indurkuba village, Saidu Wanzam ‘m’ age 60yrs of Indurkuba village.

“Furthermore, on 17/08/2023 at about 2130hrs, a report from a good Samaritan exposed that, unscrupulous elements cut-off cable wires that supply electric current to one construction company “Marepianti Nigeria Limited, Jigawa Branch” located at Kurma village in Roni LGA of Jigawa state” said the statement.

Adam stated that on receipt of the information, the Policemen attached to Roni Division were detailed.

He said on the same date at about 2300hrs, one Hassan Sama’ila ‘m’ age 20yrs of Roni LGA was nabbed in possession of the said cable wire.

 

The DSP added that when questioned, the suspect disclosed having conspired with one Shamsu Hassan ‘m’ age 19yrs of the same address in committing the offense, for which he was also arrested.

Subsequently, it added that on 18th and 19th of August, 2023 at about 0700hrs, 1230hrs, and 1235hrs respectively, operatives from Fanisau, Hadejia ‘A’ & ‘B’ Divisional Headquarters, acted on credible and actionable intelligence, arrested one Abdu Amadu ‘m’ age 30yrs of Safa village B/Kudu LGA with a Bajaj motorcycle red in color, with reg no. KTG 294 AQ Bauchi state, one Kaabu Nuhu ‘m’ age 26yrs ‘m’ of Boguwa village M/Madori LGA with Bajaj Motorcycle with Registration No. DAL 510 ON and one Mohammed Ali ‘m’ age 43yrs of Tsangawa village Miga LGA, with two (2) Bajaj Motorcycles red in color without registration number, which are strongly suspected to be stolen.

On investigation, the suspects confessed to having stolen the said motorcycles on different days and time at different locations.

Also consequently, the statement said on 17/08/2023 at about 1500hrs, one Rabiu Yusuf ‘m’ age 48yrs of Lanjo village Kazaure LGA, reported that unknown thieves stole his twenty-three (23) sheep valued at one million, one hundred and fifty thousand naira (1,150,000.00k).

“Following a tip-off, a team of Policemen attached to Gwiwa Division in conjunction with personnel from Kazaure Divisional Headquarters apprehended one Sabiu Sa’idu ‘m’ 28yrs of Kanti village and one Saifullahi Suleiman ‘m’ 34yrs of Tsohon Kafi Quarters Kazaure LGA at Furgi market Gwiwa LGA, after they have sold the one (1) among the twenty-three (23) stolen sheep” it clarified.

According to the statement, when the search was conducted, the sum of twenty-four thousand naira (₦24,000.00k) was realized from the suspect, which is the remnant of the already sold sheep balance, recovered in their possession.

The PPRO said on the investigation, the suspects mentioned one additional suspect to be their accomplice.

DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam finally said all the suspects will be charged to court for prosecution after a thorough investigation.
