Kano, Jigawa declares Wednesday public holiday to mark Islamic new year calendar

 

Kano State Government has declared tomorrow Wednesday, 19th July, 2023 a work – free day to mark the beginning of the 1445 Islamic (Hijrah) new year.

 

 

This was contained in a statement signed by the Commissioner of Information Baba Halilu Dantiye on behalf of Governor Abba Kabir Yusif.

 

The Governor who congratulated Muslims around the world on the down of the new Islamic year, enjoined the civil servants and the people in the state to pray for peace and tranquility as well as economic development of our dear state and the country at large.

 

The Governor also called on people to live their lives based on the teachings of Islam and practice the virtues of kindness, love and tolerance as exemplified by our Holy prophet Muhammad peace be upon him.

 

Similarly, the Jigawa State Government has declared Wednesday, 19th July, 2023 as a work free day to mark the Hijrah 1445 (Islamic New Year).

 

 

This was also made known in a Statement signed by the Head of the Civil Service, Alhaji Hussaini Ali Kila on behalf of Governor Malam Umar A Namadi, the Governor however urged Civil Servants and residents in the State to use the day to pray for the State and the country at large.

 

“The period of the Islamic New Year should remind all people of the countless favours bestowed on them by the Almighty God” the statement read.

“People should use the period to reflect and live their lives based on the teachings of Islam and practice of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

“During the occasion, it is expected that all public servants and the entire people of the State will also pray to Almighty Allah for continued protection and guidance of our leaders,” it said.

According to the statement, the Governor also congratulated Muslims around the world on the dawn of the new Islamic year (1445AH).

It will be recall that the Sultanate Council Declared Wednesday as 1st of MUHARRAM 1445H (19th July 2023) due to lack of positive sighting Yesterday Night Tuesday.
