Group Urges FG to rename FUHSN Azare after Sule Katagum

Group under the auspices of Coalition for the Protection of Democratic Right Group has appealed to the Federal Government of Nigeria under Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu to name the Federal University of Health Sciences and Nutrition Azare, after First Chairman Federal Public Service Commission Alhaji Sule Katagum.

Amb. Adamu Jikan Manu.National Coordinator the group made the appeal at the News briefing on Wednesday in Kaduna, Saying Alhaji Sule Katagum contributed immensely to the development of the country that deserves to be Immortalised.

“We are appealing to President Tinubu to Immortalise Alhaji Sule Katagum and name the Federal University of Health Sciences and Nutrition Azare. (SKUHSA) after him.

“We call with respect and honor to look at the kind of work he did, which include patriotism, self-sacrifice for our country’s independence, contribute to the improvement of government work

“Sule Katagum will continue to be remembered because of the contribution he made to the building of this country and his dignity will continue to be remembered, as he made a useful contribution to the Usman Dan Fodio empire. May God bless him and forgive him.

“We assure our unreserved loyalty and to protect democratic rights and respect the first leaders especially those who worked and sacrificed themselves to build our country,” the coordinator said.

The National Coordinator explained that the late Alh Sule Katagum contributed to the development of the country in terms of education, economy, protecting the interests of the community and sacrificing for the country’s independence.

“He lived his time to see our country become a free country and gain mutual understanding for the development of our country.

According to him, when the British colonial administration was about to withdraw on 1st October 1960, Alhaji Sule was saddled with the responsibility, as Chairman of the Federal Service Commission to ensure smooth transition from the British government.

“He was able to effectively manage the police, the Nigeria customs service, immigration service, prisons service and the foreign service, with the full cooperation of his commissioners,” Jikan Manu said

He said Katagum is among the first leaders whom history will not forget, he worked with Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Sir Ahmadu Bello Sardauna Sokoto from the North and he worked with Dr. Zik, Awo from the South East of the country.

He said the testimony Katagum got from across the country was honesty, patience, experience, sacrifice, patriotism and by distancing himself from race or religion

“Based on these values and good deeds of Alh Sule Katagum we beseech you to accept our request which will make our nation happy and at the same time sustain the good name of this great personality,” Jikan Manu said.
