40 cars reportedly recovered from former Governor of Zamfara State, Matawalle – Photos

The Zamfara state government has said that it raided 40 cars from the house of the former governor of the state, Muhammed Bello Matawalle by the order of the Court.

The government made this comment in response to the former governor of the state who accused Governor Dauda Lawal Dare of leading the attack on his house where cars were stolen.

The former governor alleged that in addition to taking away his cars, the belongings in his wife’s rooms were also looted and alleged that Governor Dauda led the raid.

However, the chief adviser to the new governor of Zamfara on media affairs, Mustapha Jafaru Kaura, stated that the security forces raided the house of the former governor after obtaining a court order.

The Zamfara state government has said that all the vehicles taken from the former governor’s private house belong to the government.

The statement also refuted the allegations made by Matawallen that cars carrying his pictures alongside President Tinubu were also taken.

Earlier the former governor of Zamfara denied the claims made by the state authorities that the number of vehicles they took was 40. He then said that he bought most of the vehicles that were taken away from the United States of America.

The state authorities said that the police counted the cars after they were picked up.

The state government therefore said that it will continue to recover government assets.

Zamfara State Police command in a statement said also that it will continue to investigate and recover government vehicles that the former governor is suspected of stealing.

The statement said that anyone who claimed that a non-government car has been taken, should give its certificate so that it can be return to him.
