A Group, All Progressive Congress APC North East Advancement for Good Governance has appealed to Mukthar Aliyu Betara to step down for Tajudeen Abass for the North West region who is the consensus candidate of the party leadership.
Mr Hamza Ukkasha, the coordinator of the group made.the appeal at a News Conference on Sunday in Bauchi, saying each region should have fair and equal treatment.
He said the group joined other leaders and the party leadership in their decision to zone the office of the Speakership of the 10th House of Representative to North West.
“This an undeniable response to goodwill poured out by the people of the Region towards the election of Tinubu/ Shettima ticket.
“It became necessary considering the fact that the party and the President elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu have both given the North East region to Produce the Vice President elect Sen. Kashim Shettima.
“We are calling on all party faithful particularly the Members elected to join and see a balance in the decision of the All Progressive Congress which is both instructive and inclusive as Supreme,” he said.
Ukkasha said there is need to allow other zones to Produce the Speaker adding that the decision of the National Working Committee under the able leadership of Sen. Abdullahi Adamu after consultation with the President elect is commendable.
“As party loyal Members who have given it all through the ruling APC, the need for all party faithfuls to join the decision of the Party and the President elect to have Hon. Tajuddeen Abbas as the next Speaker of the 10th Assembly.
“Abbas is one Nigerian blessed with multiple Competencies having sponsored over 78 bills that are trajectory and are reference points to all Parliaments around the world.
“He is a legislator with good track records that has been achieved beyond the expectations of Zaria Federal Constituency,” The Coordinator said.
He said the nomination and endorsement of Abass by the party leadership and the President elect is a demonstration of his Commitment and loyalty to the ruling party.
“Abbas/Kalu ticket is the best that will happen to the next House of Representatives considering their track records and rich political CV, Loyalty and Contributions to APC at all levels which earned them this trust of the party hierarchy and the President elect.
He appeal to Mukthar Betara, for the sake of patriotism, national cohesion and the greater good of the North East people to emulate other aspirants who stepped down for Abbas as well to ensure the smooth take off of the Asiwaju Administration.
