NUJ Bauchi Council pass vote of confidence on SWC

Members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Bauchi State Council have passed a vote of confidence on the State Working Committee of the Union under the leadership of Comrade Umar Saidu.

This is contained in a seven point Communique issued at the end of its Congress signed by the secretary of the council Malam Isa Garba Gadau made available to Journalists on Wednesday in Bauchi.

It said the Congress in session passes a vote of confidence on the leadership of the State Working Committee (SWC) of the union under Comrade Umar Sa’idu,

“This was based on their satisfaction on the numerous achievements recorded within the last three years and recommended for a second tenure for the entire exco.

The Congress urges members of the union to continue to operate within the ambit of NUJ constitution and code of ethics to avoid misinformation and ensure that they fact-check their stories to uphold their integrity which is instrumental to the pillars of democracy.

It also ratified the nomination of a seven member electoral committee for onward transmission to the National Secretariat for approval, to conduct fresh elections into the offices of the State Working Committee.

 

The Congress commended the National Secretariat of the union under the able leadership of Mr. Chief Chris Isiguzo CFR, for supporting the Bauchi Council to record the huge success.

The Union also commended the Bauchi State Government for its effort in revitalizing the state-owned media organizations, urging it to hasten the completion of the upgrade of the organizations.

The Congress also called on the security operatives to intensify efforts to check the activities of hoodlums to ensure the protection of lives and property.

It however called on the Jos Electricity Distribution Company JEDCO to improve power supply and address the issue of excessive billings.

The communique said the Congress had in attendance Managing Director of Bauchi Radio Corporation (BRC), Chindo Waziri, Acting Managing Director, Bauchi State Television (BATV) Usman Baba,

Chairman, Advisory Council, Ibrahim Idris Shall, Idris Sambo and 103 members of the Union and supervised by the National ex-officio, Abubakar Musa Waziri.
