Police arrest mother for kidnapping her own daughter for ransom in Kano

 

 

The Kano State police Command says it has arrested a mother for allegedly kidnapping her biological daughter for Ransom at madobi Local government Area of the State.

The commissioner of police in Kano Mohammed Usaini Gumel disclosed this while parading the suspects at the police headquarters Bompai Kano.

CP Mohammad Usaini Gumel who assumed office (9) days ago, said his leadership will not live no stone unturned in terms of enhancing security of lives and properties of the general populace.

” In our roadmap to achieve a peaceful Kano State, we commenced robust Community Policing engagements, incorporating intelligence-led and visibility policing and application of technology in tackling crimes, building synergy with sister security agencies, implementing Community Policing strategies with the stakeholders, identifying root causes of crimes especially use of illicit drugs, massive public enlightenment and sensitization.’

“During the command’s last Press Release held on 8/05/2023 that Twenty-Seven (27) armed robbers and receivers of stolen properties were arrested and paraded during weekend patrol and clearance operations. Also, Sixteen (16) remnants of kidnapping suspects among them a notorious drug dealer were arrested within Kano Metropolis and some surrounding LGAs of the State.”

He said a gang of suspected Kidnappers were arrested in Rano local government Area and Arms , Ammunition were recovered.

“There was a follow-up on a case reported on the 20/04/2023 at about 0200hrs that unknown armed men stormed the residence of one Yusuf Garba, ‘m’, of Ruwan Kanya Village, Rano LGA, kidnapped him and made away with his GSM phone and unspecified amount of money. During investigation, the following suspects were arrested; (i) Ado Bala, ‘m’, 28 years old, (ii) Yunusa Naji, ‘m’, 28 years old, and (iii) Shu’aibu Haruna, ‘m’, 21 years old, all of Ruwan Kanya Village, Rano LGA, Kano State.”

The Police Commissioner Explained that On spot search, a locally made AK-47 Rifle with two rounds of 9mm live ammunition and a cutlass were recovered from them. The suspects admitted to commission of the crime and also confessed to involving in series of Armed Robberies and Kidnappings in Rano, Tudun Wada and Kibiya LGAs of Kano State.

CP Mohammad Usaini Gumel Noted that suspected Kidnappers were also apprehended in Tudun wada local Government area of the stat.

“On the 14th April 2023 a report was received from a resident of Dariya Village, Tudun Wada LGA, Kano State that he received an anonymous phone call that he should arrange the sum of Three Million Naira (3,000,000:00), otherwise, he will be kidnapped.

” In a follow-up of the investigation, the following suspects were arrested; (i) Shehu Sani, ‘m’, 29 years old, (ii) Shu’aibu Sulaiman, ‘m’, 22 years old, (iii) Adamu Abdullahi, ‘m’, 22 years old, and (iv) Ali Musa, ‘m’, 26 years old, all of Dariya Village, Tudun Wada LGA, Kano State.”

The suspects confessed to the crime and also confessed to their involvement behind some threats and intimidation messages to other victims. Investigation is in progress.

meanwhile In Dala local government On 04/04/2023, a report was received from a resident of Kofar Ruwa Quarters, Dala LGA, Kano State that his son, one Almustapha Bashir, ‘m’, 6 years old was kidnapped and a ransom of Twenty Million Naira (N20,000,000:00) was demanded which they settled at Five Million, One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N5,150,000:00 In a follow-up of the investigation, the victim was rescued unhurt and the following suspects were arrested, (i) Zainab Rabi’u, ‘f’, 45 years old of Gwammaja Quarters, a masterminder and an aunt to the victim that organized and arranged the Kidnapping. (ii) Abdurrashid Sa’idu, ‘m’, 27 years (iii) Hassan Abdullahi, ‘m’, 24 years old and (iv) Ahmed Saleh, ‘m’, 25 years old, all of Sheka Quarters Kano.

All suspects confessed to the crime and will be charge to court upon completion of the investigation.

CP Gumel maintained that a report was received from a resident of Wailari Quarters, Kumbotso LGShehu,A, Kano State that his daughter, one Halima ‘f’, 14 years old was abducted by one Abdulmalik Auwal, ‘m’, 19 years old of the same address and all efforts to trace their whereabout proved abortive.

 

In a follow-up of the investigation, the suspect was arrested at Kenimi Quarters Kumbotso LGA, Kano State where he received and kept her for two days. Investigation is in progress.

 

“On 16/03/2023 at about 0100hrs, a report was received that gun men stormed the residence of one Nasiru Yahaya, Yarimawa Village, Tofa LGA, Kano State, where they Kidnapped him and his son, one Gaddafi Nasiru. In the process, the son resisteddd. In an attempt to shoot the son, they shot their colleague, one Umar Abdullahi, Alias Danbaba who died on the spot. The father escaped. Also, in attempt to whisk the son, they shot two villagers on their legs who came to offer assistance. The victims were rushed to Tofa General Hospital, and they were treated and discharged.”

In a follow-up of the investigation, the following suspects were arrested; (i) Idris Abdullahi, ‘m’, 26 years of Janguza, Tofa LGA (ii) Tukur Yusuf, ‘m’, 40 years old, of Langyal, Tofa LGA, and (iii) Ilyasu Aminu, ‘m’, 25 years old, of Gargai Village, Bebeji LGA Kano State. Investigation is in progress.

vi. IN MADOBI LGA: ARREST OF i
On 08/05/2023, a report was received from one Kabiru Shehu of Sharada Quarters, Kano Municipal LGA that his divorced wife, one Rahma Sulaiman , ‘f’ , 25 years old informed him that his daughter named Hafsat Kabiru, ‘f’, 6 years old was missing, and that unknown persons called her through her mobile phone demanding the sum of Three Million Naira (N3,000,000:00k) as ransom. In a follow-up investigation, the victim was rescued in Madobi LGA. The divorced wife was arrested and confessed to have planned, took her daughter to a hideout and demanded the ransom. Investigation is in progress.

“On 3/05/2023 at about 1330hrs, reports were received from the residents of Kofar Mata and Mandawari Quarters that a specific drug dealer, sells illicit drugs to the youth of the areas. On receipt of the reports, the Commissioner of Police directed that all assets and put in place be used to apprehend the suspect. The suspect, one Ashiru Mohammed, ‘m’, 23 years old of Rijiyar Lemo Quarters, Dala LGA, Kano State was arrested in possession of Five (5) Parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp at Kofar Mata Quarters, Kano Municipal LGA, Kano State”

Furthermore, concerted intelligence-led operations led to the recovery of another Six Hundred and Five (605) Parcels of Dried Leaves Suspected to be Indian Hemp with investigation ongoing.
