Kano police calls on residents to respect curfew time

The Kano state police command has urged people in the state to respect curfew imposed so as to tackle criminally minded people who are out to attack innocent people and loot properties.

This was contained in a statement signed by the state commissioner of police in charge of elections matters Mohammed Usaini Gumel.

In the statement, Gumel urges the good people of the State to abide by the dusk-to-dawn Curfew as the Police and other Law Enforcement Officials are on the triall for criminally minded people who are out to attack innocent people and loot properties.

The long-awaited 2023 general election in Nigeria has come and gone.
He said the Security concern is now focusing on the way people celebrate the election victory.

It’s important to note that celebrations should always be respectful and mindful of the fact that the people celebrating are inclusive of all people, regardless of political beliefs, religion or culture.

He said the Command wishes to reiterate that a better way to celebrate election victory is for the celebrants to avoid the use of violence or vandalism; instead should always engage in peaceful and non-destructive conduct.

The party leaders are also expected to do away with using hate speech or engaging in discriminatory behaviour towards individuals or groups who may not have supported the winning candidate or party.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel appreciates the good people of the State for their cooperation and calls on them to abide by the dawn-to-dusk Curfew as criminally minded people are planning to take advantage of the gatherings to attack innocent citizens and or loot their properties.
